For photographer Andrew Holligan, Dalston in the 80s was a world apart from the New York fashion scene, which until 1984, was where he worked. But when he made the unexpected move there, he found a humanity on the streets of East London that changed him and his art forever.
Shot with a 1950s Rolleiflex, the black and white images accompanied by hand-written notes tell Holligan’s personal story, and also give a glimpse into the lives of numerous other characters he happened to meet during his 2 years spent living in Dalston.
A fully cloth-covered Collector's Edition of Dalston in the 80s by Andrew Holligan, presented in a bespoke cloth-covered clamshell box complete with signed and numbered limited edition print.
Edition of 150, 192 x 136mm (paper size), giclée print on Hahnemühle Photorag 188gsm, signed and numbered by the artist.

In 2008 the financial crash hit the City of London. Panic filled the air and people working for the giant money machine seemed oblivious to a photographer working quickly and quietly in their midst. Now, over a decade later, these images question what we have learned... if anything at all.
Stephen McLaren moved to Bethnal Green in 1996, became a photographer, and quickly realised he never wanted to live anywhere else in London other than the East End. Stephen has written a number of books on photography, including 'Photographers’ Sketchbooks', and currently works as a photographer and writer in Los Angeles.
