Cycle through the ancient woodland of Epping Forest and out into the winding lanes of Essex. Start outside the dramatic Clapton Hart (conveniently it’s next to Hub Vélo), and then follow the cycle path through Walthamstow before taking the main road out into Epping Forest. It is the largest forest in London and has a long, fascinating history, so take your time to explore. After that, you’re in a cyclist’s paradise of quiet lanes and charming villages. Fancy some lunch? The Viper at Mill Green is about halfway and serves up traditional pub grub in a cosy setting. Head back to where you started for another bite or tipple at The Clapton Hart.

Please cycle responsibly: always wear a helmet and remember to account for the distance of the journey. It’s also good to have the map downloaded, in case you lose signal while on the road.
