Book 9 in the series 'Vintage Britain'
These pensive black-and-white photographs from the 70s and 80s document the capital’s urban landscape and its people. Sometimes puzzling, often mysterious, Berris Conolly’s images show parts of London that many may never have seen; for others they will be a portal to the past.
Berris Conolly, formerly a commercial photographer, turned to documentary photography in the 70s, at first capturing his neighbourhood in Hackney before a commission took him to Sheffield – where he still lives today.

It’s no secret that London is addicted to coffee. Today’s flat white drinkers are well versed - with a taste for single origins and light roasts - but what is often forgotten is that the city has a rich history of coffeehouses going back to the 1650s.
Bestselling author Lani Kingston and photographer David Post have captured the stories of the most inspirational modern-day artisans, roasters, growers, innovators and entrepreneurs who make London, once again, a world capital of coffee.
This book comes with a fold-out map featuring 50 of the best London coffee shops.
'London Coffee' by Lani Kingston and David Post
256pp hardback, black foiled, 222 x 167mm. Plus fold-out map.
Lani Kingston is an Australian food writer, consultant and management professional who proudly calls London home. Her first book, 'How to Make Coffee', was an international bestseller, and has been released in five languages and eight editions. Lani holds Masters degrees in Food Studies and in Education, and pastry chef and barista qualifications, and judges coffee for the Great Taste Awards.
David Post is a Canadian photographer whose portfolio includes work for a number of prominent London brands including a recent project for Mast Chocolate. David is also a respected character in the coffee world: he owned and operated an award-winning coffee bar in his home province of Newfoundland before moving to London, where he joined the vibrant coffee scene and worked with cafés across the city.

'London in Lockdown', 256pp, hardback, 170 x 220mm. Written by Jilke Golbach and published in collaboration with the Museum of London.
24 photographers capture a city gripped by Covid.
2020 brought a seismic break with normality. For those living in urban centres, lockdown made us wonder if city life as we knew it was gone forever. The images in this book express the anxiety, the love, the boredom, the tranquillity and the reconnection with nature that isolation brought. Uncanny but often uplifting, they show London at a defining moment in its history – telling a story that will resonate far beyond the pandemic.
This book features the work of:
Olivia Arthur, Peter Dench, Chris Dorley-Brown, Giles Duley, Philipp Ebeling, Sophia Evans, Lydia Goldblatt, Olivia Harris, Will Hartley, Grey Hutton, Celine Marchbank, Roy Mehta, Mimi Mollica, Spencer Murphy, Simon Norfolk, Morgana Secco, Andy Sewell, Christian Sinibaldi, Hannah Starkey, Alys Tomlinson, Joanna Vestey, Sophie Wedgwood, Greg White and Jemima Yong.

Book 8 from the series 'Tales from the City'

This book is also available to buy as a Collector's Edition here.
ABOUT THE BOOK
Millions pass through the square mile, also known as the City of London, yet few are aware of its true significance. These photographs of people surrounded by the City’s imposing architecture, combined with texts from an acclaimed historian, begin to decode one of the most cryptic and fascinating parts of the capital.
Polly Braden is a documentary photographer whose work examines the relationship between people and the environment in which they find themselves. Capturing the small, often unconscious gestures of her subjects, Polly enjoys long-term collaborations that lend her photographs a unique, quiet intimacy. This is her fifth photography book.
David Kynaston has been a professional historian for over 40 years and written over 20 books including the widely acclaimed four-volume 'The City of London (1994-2001)'.

Book 8 from the series 'East London Photo Stories'
‘Lost In The City’ by Nicholas Sack. 96pp hardcover, quarter-bound, gold foiled,199 x 139 mm, Introduction by Iain Sinclair
This book is also available to buy as a Collector's Edition here.
Nicholas Sack's black and white photographs of office workers in and around the City of London capture isolated individuals and set them against the imposing architecture of modern London. The work is beautiful but also unnerving and reminds us of the alienation that can be felt in the heart of a city as well as obliquely commenting on the moral uncertainty of the banking practices in the City . The book is accompanied by an introductory essay by the well-known writer Iain Sinclair.
After drumming in rock bands and gaining a master’s degree in journalism, Nicholas Sack took up photography in his mid-twenties. He enjoyed a thirty-year career freelancing for magazines, but now concentrates on personal projects shot on black & white film on long walks across London and printed in his darkroom. This is Sack’s second book; Uncommon Ground was published to critical acclaim in 2004.

'Men Photographing Women in the 1970s' by Michael Abramson, 96pp, paperback, pink foil, 175 x 120mm.
Once a month, in 1970s Chicago, men were allowed to take cameras into underground strip clubs. Michael Abramson, a local photographer, thought it would be more revealing to photograph the men photographing the women. Left in a drawer until now, the resulting images are a fascinating, funny and at times unsettling portrayal of the uninhibited male gaze.
Introduced by Midge Wilson.
Michael Abramson (1948-2011) was an American photographer best known for his work documenting the nightlife of black night clubs on the south side of Chicago. His photographs can be found in the permanent collections of many major American institutions including the Smithsonian, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Chicago History Museum, the California Museum of Photography and more.

‘New British Wine’. 224pp, hardback, 196 x 255mm. Text by Abbie Moulton, photography by Maria Bell.
‘British Wine’ was once shorthand for bad imported grape mush. Not any more. The rise of sustainable methods, youthful experimentation and, dare we say it, a new climate, mean that Britain is no longer the home of a few fine sparklings but a whole roster of dynamic reds, pinks and even oranges. This book celebrates the people who are growing, producing and championing the best of New British Wine.
Abbie Moulton is a drinks writer, broadcaster and presenter, specialising in wine and whisky – the people who make them and the places that pour them. Her work has been featured in the Evening Standard, The Times and Suitcase magazine, among other publications, and she regularly chats on the radio and on podcasts.
Maria Bell is a freelance photographer based between the Isle of Wight and London. Her career documenting food and farming has seen her work alongside the industry’s top chefs and restaurants and featured in national newspapers and books. In 2021, she was shortlisted for the Food Photographer of the Year award.

ABOUT THE BOOK
New York City is defined by water, yet many of its shorelines are largely unknown. These lyrical photographs, inspired by a Walt Whitman poem, take us on a seasonal journey past sheltered bays, under great bridges and over deep rivers to give us a moving perspective on a megacity we thought we knew so well.
Susannah Ray lives in the Rockaways, a small peninsula on the edge of New York City bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, Jamaica Bay, and JFK International Airport. This intersection of city and water is at the heart of her work. Susannah studied photography at Princeton University and the School of Visual Arts MFA Program in Photography and Related Media, and is an Associate Professor of Photography at Hofstra University.

Published here for the very first time, these images, full of humour, grit, love and surprise, capture a vibrant time before the area went through dramatic social change.
Paul Trevor began to make pictures in his Brick Lane neighbourhood after abandoning his job as an accountant and deciding to become a photographer at the age of 25. His photographs have been exhibited internationally since the 1970s and are in public and private collections worldwide.

'Paris, China' by François Prost. 88pp, paperback, 162mm x 127mm.
Tianducheng is a small suburb in China modelled on Paris — it even has a replica Eiffel Tower. These photographs of near-identical landmarks in both places beg the question: is imitation really the highest form of flattery?
François Prost is a Parisian photographer, graphic designer and art director. When he’s not working for editorial or commercial clients he spends his time on personal photography projects, documenting façades of local French nightclubs, machine gun shops in the US and Chinese scooters. In 2020 he started photographing the similarities between the real Venice and replicas in Las Vegas and Hangzhou, China.

200 photographs that capture the face of a changing nation.

Now in its third year, the exhibition will re-launch on 1 September 2018 for one month but for the first time with this book. Portrait of Britain is a small, chunky hardback featuring 200 shortlisted portraits alongside information about each image and selected quotes from the photographers. Together these photographs celebrate the richness and diversity of a vibrant nation at a time of pivotal change.

'These magnificent photographs capture at once the great diversity and the inescapable identity of the British. Gay, straight, bisexual and non-normative; male, female and non-binary; old, young and in between — how can it be that these — every one a compelling identity in its own right — are nonetheless trumped by a Britishness as heavy and irresistible as a Dundee fruit cake?
